Critical Care
Improved Care for Vulnerable ICU Patients
Every year, approximately 70,000 patients are admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) in the Netherlands. These critically ill patients require intensive care, often including mechanical ventilation. While ventilation is life-saving, it also carries risks, especially with prolonged use. The Critical Care research group investigates effective nursing interventions to optimise care, implement evidence-based methods, and phase out less effective practices.
