The Smart Health and Vitality Lab prepares students for a future in which technology and AI are indispensable in healthcare. Due to increasing pressure on healthcare, there is a growing need for innovative and scalable solutions. Our lab is the place where education, research and healthcare practice come together to stimulate innovation and make an impact.
In collaboration with healthcare professionals and researchers, we develop technologies that improve healthcare processes and make them more efficient. Through practice-oriented research and hands-on experience, students learn how to use technology to make healthcare future-proof.
Virtual Care Assistant
With the virtual care assistant, we are developing an advanced language model that supports healthcare providers in assessing functioning and detecting early deterioration, enabling more efficient and targeted care.
Simulation Education
With VR simulation education, students train together in a simulated environment, allowing them to experience realistic patient scenarios and better prepare them for working with real patients in healthcare practice.
Markerless Motion Capture
With markerless motion capture, we analyse gait patterns using AI software, without markers. This helps in the early detection of risks of anterior cruciate ligament injury or falls, enabling preventive interventions.
