Do you have a head for business and a heart for sport? Then Sport Studies – track International Sports, Management and Business (ISMB) might be the right fit for you. This Bachelor's programme prepares you for a career as a sport manager in an international setting. You will study topics like management and business, sport, and personal development, and gain hands-on experience through 3 international internships.

Sport Studies - track ISMB is a 4-year Bachelor’s degree programme focused on business and management within the international sport industry. During your studies, entrepreneurial skills and spirit will provide a solid foundation as you learn to research, plan, organise, lead, manage, and evaluate the business of sport.
- Year 1
Year 1 starts with an introduction to sport, management and business in an international setting. This prepares you for the rest of your studies. About half of your time is spent in sport classes. At Sport Studies we use sport as a tool to teach leadership and management skills. You will also take several theory subjects, such as marketing and finance. You will go on 2 international field trips in Europe. In the second semester, you will focus on event management.
- Year 2
Year 2 is built around 3 main themes: Research and Advice, Project and Organisation, and Management and Sport. These themes help you improve your organisational skills and give you a better understanding of the business side of sport. You will also continue with sport classes and focus on your personal development. In the third quarter, you will do a 10-week internship at a sport organisation abroad.
- Year 3
In year 3, you focus on growing as a future sport professional. In the first semester, you choose a minor. In the second semester, you dive into business topics like entrepreneurship, research and strategy. The entrepreneurship quarter starts with a week on the island of Texel, where you develop your own start-up idea. This year also includes a professional specialisation.
- Year 4
You start year 4 with a 20-week full-time internship abroad, working on complex projects. In the final semester, you do your graduation project, based on research at an international organisation of your choice.

Admission requirements
Admission
To be admitted to Sport Studies you need to have completed secondary education equivalent to the Dutch HAVO, VWO or MBO 4 level. You will also participate in a selection procedure (numerus fixus), as the programme has a limited number of places.

40 hrs per week
Study load
In year 1, you spend about 40 hours a week on the Sport Studies programme. This includes 20 contact hours — time spent in class for lessons, coaching or feedback. The other 20 hours are for self-study, working on projects, doing assignments, or preparing for exams and presentations.

Tuition fees and additional costs
Tuition
In addition to the annually determined tuition fees you must take into account approximately €1.200 in costs in year 1 for e.g., sportswear, field trips and books. The additional costs are lower in year 2, 3 and 4.
